Design
Sheet™ is a conceptual design
system that integrates constraint management techniques, symbolic
mathematics, and robust
equation solving capabilities in a flexible environment for developing
models and specifying trade-off studies. It encourages designers
to explore a wider range of design space, providing an order
of magnitude (or better) improvement in productivity of conceptual
design and trade studies. Design Sheet is perhaps the only tool
in existence capable of performing true cost as an independent
variable (CAIV) studies.
Design Sheet
was developed at the Rockwell
Scientific Palo Alto Laboratory, and undergoes continuing evolution.
We have developed new functional capabilities,
such as differential equation solutions. Development is underway
to redesign the model representation interface, allowing the
user to visualize and develop models. The goal is to reduce
the model development time, from typically a few months for
complex systems,
to a few weeks or less.
Another
initiative at Teledyne Scientific Company is to develop a software
environment for requirement capture,
analysis, and validation.
The software will enable the user to address the most difficult
challenge in building a software system – deciding
precisely what to build.
Requirements
are captured in a semi-formal representation
and formal algorithms are employed for static requirement
validation.
Dynamic requirement validation is provided through requirement
execution. The software also provides utilities to bridge
communication gaps between engineers and customers, and
between system and
software engineers.
Integrated
Data Analysis
Extracting useful information from a huge collection of data is a
daunting task. Teledyne Scientific Company developed an advanced
data mining technology to quickly compress and extract useful information
from
a sea of data. Teledyne Scientific Company's Integrated Data Analysis
software uses sophisticated search algorithms to pull useful information
from confusing, seemingly
unrelated data. Some applications include leukemia diagnosis, magazine
subscriber prediction, pattern recognition, signal processing, and
risk management.
