Teledyne Scientific Company pioneered the use of probabilistic belief networks in the aerospace industry in the early 90's. In a project sponsored by NASA and Rockwell Collins, information visualization, probabilistic inference and image analysis technologies are being used in interpreting real-time aviation weather data in order to assist general aviation pilots with flight planning decisions.
