Teledyne Scientific Introduces 12 Bit 2GHz Low Power Digital to Analog Converter

THOUSAND OAKS, CA - November 13, 2006 - Teledyne Scientific Company (TSC), part of Teledyne Scientific & Imaging, LLC, a premier developer of high speed mixed signal circuits for commercial and defense applications, announced today the expansion of its digital to analog product family with the release of its 12Bit 2GS/s converter with extremely low power consumption – RDA112M4MSLPD.

The RDA112M4MSLPD has been optimized for applications demanding high performance without sacrificing power.  Dissipating only 1.1W the RDA112M4MSLPD is the lowest power DAC in its class. The DAC includes an embedded 4:1 multiplexer to allow direct connection to standard FPGAs or ASICs with no extra components, significantly easing system design constraints.  It provides 53dBc of spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) when clocked at a frequency of 2GHz with an output frequency of 500MHz.

The DAC utilizes a segmented current source to reduce glitch energy and achieve high linearity performance. This is the ideal solution for transmitters that require wide bandwidth and high dynamic range at the same time such as satellite communications modems, arbitrary waveform generation for automatic test equipment and exciters for radar equipment.

The RDA112M4MSLPD is packaged in a 224 Ball Grid Array (BGA).
